Dear Mom, The Black Death has just reached my town and I am very frightened. Everyone is very ill and I’m afraid I might be next… so many people have boils the size of eggs all over their bodies, that can form in just a few hours! After that, black spots appear all over their body. Then within a week they’re dead. I can’t take this anymore! All the people we love are dying! And it seems like this ridiculous plague is inescapable, everywhere I turn there’s just one more person that is sick and dying, I need to get away from it all. As soon as I am done this letter I will get on my trusty steed and be on my way to see you and father. I miss you both very much. I hope that you will be in good health when I reach our home in France. I just can’t wait to get away from all these sickies! Here the outbreak began in 1347 and now in the year 1350 many are hoping the plague will end but, it so far shows no signs of slowing up any time soon. Being very unsanitary is helping to spread the plague further and unfortunately, we are very not clean people… throwing garbage and human waste into the streets? Not the healthiest things to do. So, you and Dad should try not to do those things because I don’t want you guys to get sick! Alright, I’m now on my way home. I really hope you and father are in good health when I arrive… I love you see you soon.
